Metro middle school students will enjoy new hands-on activities, thanks to grants received from the Ohio STEM Learning Network.
Mrs. Juracich (Science) and Mr. Whitt (Math) were among Ohio educators awarded STEM Classroom Grants by Battelle. Selections were based on applications submitted by teachers for classroom activities to encourage active learning.
This is the third year Battelle has funded STEM programs through the Ohio STEM Learning Network STEM Classroom Grants. More than 68,000 students will benefit from the funds at schools across the state.
“Every student should have access to the kind of quality STEM education that drives opportunity for families and leads to new jobs in their local communities” said Kelly Gaier Evans, Director of the Ohio STEM Learning Network (OSLN). “This program connects champions of STEM in local communities to a broad and deep network of STEM schools, STEM resources, and peer-educators.”
Mrs. Juracich (pictured) will be using grant dollars to purchase hydroponics for students to learn about the science and technology behind food production from seed to plate.
The STEM Classroom Grant program fosters the growth of OSLN as a public-private partnership between Battelle and the state of Ohio.
