2023-24 Year in Review

Though we had a late start to the school year (due to the middle school remodel), it seems as though the year has flown by. We are honored that you are part of the Metro community and are grateful for the opportunity to educate your students. 

We had many accomplishments to be proud of this year. A few highlights:

Graduating Class of 2024:

  • 7 Morrill Scholarships (full-ride) to The Ohio State University

  • 51% of seniors earned a STEM Honors or Academic Honors Diploma

  • 2,964 college credits earned with the average college GPA of 3.134

  • 87% of the class graduated with college credits

Middle School:  

  • Math MAP Testing: 60% of students met expected growth targets, with 22% above average

  • Science MAP Testing: 68% of students met expected growth, with 27% above average

  • Implementation of the CW Fit program & Ron Clark House System helped reduce off-task behavior and build community

All School:

  • Dedicated a teacher to oversee the English Language Learner program to further support ELL students

  • Added the use of VR technology in the math department

  • Received International Accreditation through Cognia

Staff Changes

We will have several staff members move to new positions at Metro and will bid farewell to some who are moving out of state, retiring or taking on new opportunities. Among the changes are new heads of school:

  • Dr. Marc Sterner will move from Assistant Principal to Principal of the Middle School with new Assistant Principal Amy Conn.

  • Mr. Ben McKibben will move from Assistant Principal to Principal of the High S

    chool with Dr. Anitra Simmons as new Assistant Principal. 

Metro@Indianola Update (Middle & High School)

The 2024-25 school year will bring exciting changes, including the highly anticipated move to our new home at the former Indianola Junior High. Construction crews are working to complete interior and exterior projects in time for a January 2025 move-in date. See the links below for a construction update and video.

Metro Elementary

As the Indianola construction project moves forward, plans will begin for the addition of elementary grades at our Kenny Road location. The elementary school is set to open August of 2025; we will share information on the plan and how to apply for admission later this fall.
