Metro Middle School is excited to add classroom walls this fall!
Metro Superintendent Meka Pace hosted a meeting August 22 to review the plans for updates to the middle school with families.
The work scheduled for November through January will greatly improve the learning environment by reworking the HVAC system and adding classroom walls. School leaders worked diligently to design a plan for the active construction period that was least disruptive to learning, including alternate schedules, alternate sites for classes, and hybrid options. Also considered were timeline restrictions on the use of funding, availability of the firms assisting with the project, and natural breaks on the school calendar.
The hybrid option presented will have middle school students on site Mon/Wed/Fri and virtual Tues/Thurs. High school students will be on site Tues/Thurs and virtual Mon/Wed/Fri. Sixth grade families will have the option of sending students on site daily. There will be provision for high school students taking college classes who need space to work at Metro.
Input from families is welcome as the project timeline approaches. Parents interested in serving on a parent/staff council to research alternate sites or who have ideas to share with administration are invited to complete the Metro Middle School Construction survey.
